Hood Landscape Architect
It’s billed as ‘The Rendering Killer’ and the ‘WYSIWYG* of 3D’ by French software designers Kinetic Arts and Research in Architecture Srl (KA-RA for short), not least because it outmodes the act of ‘rendering’ as a way to get results. As any 3D designer will know, creating a lifelike 3D or 2D image using classic 3D design software habitually requires a lengthy pre-render and render process that can take hours to complete, for even the simplest of images.
Textures, complex reflections, lighting, shadows and other in-model effects can lock-down a designer’s workstation for hours and hours of computation time, often meaning that the designer sits on their hands while they wait for it to finish. Worst of all, if the pre-render settings have not been optimised, the user is often required to repeat the process until results are in line with what was envisaged before the ‘render’ button was first struck.
This process becomes a major issue when rendering video sequences, as the time required to render a high-definition video can take days. Any business or individual then that relies on 3D modelling, such as Architects, can waste huge amounts of time in just visualising their projects and ideas. The cost in terms of revenue and resources is incalculable.
